Pediatric advanced life support training, also known as PALS courses, provides healthcare professionals with the knowledge and skills to appropriately respond to infant and children emergencies. These courses typically use a series of simulated pediatric emergencies to teach healthcare providers how to quickly care for infants and children suffering from severe illness or injury.
PALS classes are designed for doctors, nurses, paramedics and other healthcare personnel working in or seeking employment in emergency response and medicine, intensive care and critical care units. Pediatric advanced life support training courses focus on pediatric assessment, general life support, various treatment methods, appropriate resuscitation and management of respiratory emergencies.
Courses include 10 hours of instruction focused on hands-on simulation learning stations and classroom-based work. Students who successfully complete the course, pass various skills tests and meet minimum score requirements on the written exam will receive a PALS provider course completion card good for two years. Update courses for continuing education are available in both six and eight-hour formats.
