Earlier this week, a 22-year-old from Glen Allen, Virginia used CPR to save her 52-year-old father’s life. Their story was published in the Richmond Times Dispatch.
Alec Kornacki was working on his car in his garage when the car slipped from the jack. His daughter, Lauren Kornacki, found him pinned and not breathing.
She was able to shove the car hard enough to pull him from beneath. She then used CPR techniques she had gained when she got re-certified as part of her summer lifeguard job.
After completing three sets of compressions and two sets of mouth-to-mouth, emergency help arrived and her father’s breathing had been restored.
Alec Kornacki is doing well, thanks to his daughter’s quick actions.
Stories like this take place every day and knowing what to do in an emergency can mean the difference between life and death for a loved one.
