I had a great experience at my recent SureFire PEARS class. Joey, the instructor, was great! He was thorough, explained things well and even made the class fun. The facility itself was also really nice. The rest of the staff was very friendly and professional. The class itself didn’t run over the expected duration, which I really appreciated because some of these classes can go all day. I definitely will be taking all of my future classes here at SureFire!
I just did my Pears/BLS in one sitting and it was actually a fun class. Time flew by, we had an interactive, fun instructor, and they added repetition of important facts without overkill. I feel totally confident in the knowledge of the subject and it was a great refresher course while having fun. I love that they gave the option to do BLS at the same time so that I could kill two birds with one stone, so to speak. How convenient and what a relief to have my certifications up to date.
Do yourself a favor, don’t go anywhere else! I have 4 different certs with this crew. It’s easy to register, they’re super friendly, informed, and relaxed to work with. Most importantly, they practice according to AHA guidelines! The sessions include visual, text and hands on learning so whatever learning style works best for you- you’ll get it in class. It’s a comfortable learning environment, mistakes are ok, practice makes perfect!
I spent 15 years as a firefighter and paramedic, and I believe every medical professional should know PEARS.
We know that kids show their symptoms differently than adult patients. So, it only makes sense that we prepare differently. Through PEARS training, you’ll learn the specifics of recognizing and responding to pediatric emergencies before it’s too late. It’s a critical curriculum for anyone who might encounter young patients in their medical career––and it could make all the difference for someone’s child.

A Pediatric Emergency Assessment and Response (PEARS) course is to improve outcomes for pediatric patients by preparing healthcare providers in assessment, early recognition, prompt communication, and initial intervention in patients with respiratory emergencies, shock, and cardiopulmonary arrest by using high-performance team dynamics.
By getting a PEARS certification, you’ll show employers that you’ve received training in emergency evaluation and treatment for young patients.
Once you receive your PEARS certification card, your card will be valid for 2 years.
PEARS training is critical for all healthcare professionals and medical personnel who need to be able to recognize and manage pediatric emergencies. Depending on your position and workplace, they may require you to take our PALS course.
PEARS is only available in-person at our Orange office. This class includes instructor lecture, videos, and skills practice. At the end of class, you will complete a required skills test and written exam.
The PEARS class is scheduled for about 6 hours.
After you successfully pass the class, you will receive an email within 24 hours from ecards@heart.org. The American Heart Association provides you with directions on how to claim your certification card.
We offer CE’s for the EMS and RN board. The PEARS class will receive 6 units.
